Have a cup of gratitude

This morning, among the seemingly endless ocean of election negativity that is swallowing my Facebook newsfeed, I found a gem that restored my faith in humanity. There is a company in Canada called The Garden that has started a campaign called "Let's Tell America It's Great," and it's literally as nice as it sounds. Our neighbors in the Great White North are taking to social media to remind us why America is already great and to give us a bright spot in our days that seem to be overtaken by tension, stress and mudslinging campaigning.

Cheers to you, Canada -- from this tired, disillusioned America that teeters on the brink of hopelessness every election season, I thank you from the bottom of my heart for your generosity, your hospitality, and your franchised coffee-and-donut chains. Thank you for helping me to see that my country is already pretty great, and encouraging me to start my days not with negativity, but with a cup of gratitude for the things with which I've already been blessed.
